I am a writer and PhD researcher currently based at the University of Roehampton, London. I have previously completed two larger writing projects funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, have been involved in 24-hour theatre projects in Belfast, community theatre projects in Berlin, and have recently completed a residency at the Mustarinda Gallery, Kainuu Region, Finland.
I have a background as an amateur musician, but became interested in the relationship between sound and written text when I thought about how we tend to ignore, reject, or become distracted by the sounds around us when we read books. As a practitioner, I’m aiming to explore the chance encounters between printed words and ambient and recorded sound. During the past three years I have been experimenting with various forms, each time combining sound with words.
